The Saint-Gobain Group is now looking for a motivated and forward-looking EU public affairs professional to reinforce its EU Brussels based team and the deployment of its public advocacy strategy.
The core areas of advocacy engagement, strongly linked to the EU Green Deal and Fit for 55 agenda and its delivery, are all of strategic relevance for the Group.
About the Responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Public Affairs, the new team member will be part of Saint-Gobain’s Sustainable Business Development department.
They will support the implementation of the Group’s advocacy strategy at EU level and perform a series of key tasks, including:
- Monitoring and analysing policy developments in the areas of EU climate and energy, energy efficiency, circularity, sustainable construction, industrial policy, sustainable finance & EU funding programmes (non-exhaustive list) to help identify opportunities and risks, and inform the company decisions;
- Developing internal briefings in support of the advocacy and business strategy;
- Providing recommendations on positioning in articulation with the Group’s priorities and internal stakeholder priorities and expectations;
- Preparing and disseminating position papers;
- Contributing to the work of our trade associations and partner organisations in Brussels;
- Supporting the development of our institutional network (European Parliament, European Commission, Permanent Representations) – and wider stakeholder network;
- Participating in relevant external meetings and representing the company;
- Providing support to the organisation of events;
- Engaging with our internal Public Advocacy Network and animating our internal information platforms;
- Contributing to Saint Gobain’s internal global training programme on advocacy and public affairs.
About the Requirements
- Educational background in political sciences, economy, law, public affairs, or sustainability with any other relevant degree to be considered;
- 3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience with a good knowledge of the EU decision-making process, and of relevant EU policies and institutional stakeholders with regards one or more of the following topics/files such as e.g. EU Green Deal, the Fit for 55 package, EU Renovation Wave / EPBD, Sustainable Construction, , Circular Economy Action Plan, Sustainable Products Initiative / ESPR, Construction Products Regulation, taxonomyand/or others;
- Excellent analytical and writing skills; ability to handle complex issues and communicate in a clear and convincing way; autonomy; problem solving; flexibility and initiative in a fast-moving work environment; ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders; networking skills;
- High sense of ethics and collaboration. Public affairs conducted in respect of a solid set of rules incl. compliance, transparency, the Saint-Gobain Principles of Conduct and Action, and Saint-Gobain Attitudes;
- Languages: English and French. Any other language highly appreciated.
