For our client – a global company with an important industrial footprint across Europe – we’re looking for a Senior Leader to work with the C-Suite to drive strategic institutional engagement and support the business transformation in Europe.
The role will ideally be based in Brussels with flexibility to consider other locations in Europe.
About the Role
The role will lead the development of key strategic projects to advance the engagement with European Union institutions, national governments, industry associations, and key stakeholders to position our client as a partner of choice in Europe’s green industrial transition. This role is responsible for developing and executing strategies that secure EU confidence, build collaborative funding initiatives, and align the company’s current and future technical capabilities with Europe’s transition goals.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Project Development and Government Relations
- Work with and coordinate input from colleagues from across the key markets in Europe (General Manager level) and with technical experts to develop strategic projects in line with EU’s key priorities such as decarbonization, circularity and regional security.
- With support from colleagues and external agencies build trusted relationships with senior EU Commission executives, national member state governments, regulators, and policy influencers.
- Position the company as a leader in industrial transformation and decarbonization in Europe.
- Represent the company at high-level EU forums, strategic working groups, and bilateral meetings with policymakers.
Funding and Collaboration Initiatives
- Identify and support the company’s efforts to secure EU and national funding opportunities.
- Champion the company’s key strategic projects to attract public funding opportunities on the EU and EU member states level.
- Along with colleagues and experts, play a key role in driving the company’s involvement with leading industry associations.
- Develop and coordinate strategic partnerships with industry, research and business partners.
Industrial Strategy and Market Positioning
- Shape the company’s industrial strategy in line with the EU Clean Industrial Deal objectives.
- Provide strategic oversight on key EU policy developments impacting the business.
- Develop strategic relationships with key internal leaders to ensure smooth integration and cooperation between government relations, corporate strategy and operations excellence.
Leadership and Influence
- Act as a visible and credible senior representative of the company towards key external stakeholders at the highest levels (institutional and industrial).
- Mentor internal teams and develop strategic capacities across the government relations and corporate affairs functions.
- Support the CEO and the C-Suite team in delivering long-term strategic outcomes in Europe.
Key Qualifications
- 20 years of experience in Senior Strategy, Business Development and/or Executive Leadership roles within the European Union.
- Experience related to business strategy / development in the industrial setting.
- Deep networks within EU Commission, national governments across the EU member states, and industry associations.
- Experience influencing policy and driving strategic initiatives in energy, industrial transformation, or infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of European funding mechanisms and collaborative innovation models.
- Fluent in English and at least one major EU language (French or German preferred).
- International leadership experience in complex, multi‑stakeholder environments.
- Hands-on and action-oriented individual, able to translate strategic objectives into measurable outputs – drives results.
- Openness to travel (primarily across Europe) to meet key internal stakeholders and businesses.
