About the role
The firm is looking for a Brussels-based Director who will be a senior technology policy adviser (12 years or more) with deep expertise in EU tech policy, an established network across the institutions, and the leadership instincts to help grow the Brussels practice alongside other senior members of the team.
The Brussels team works with some of the most influential technology companies operating in the EU, advising on the policy and regulatory challenges that define their reputations and shape their futures. The Milltown Partners’ clients come from the AI stack, cloud, telecoms, platforms, e-mobility, and videogames, and the Milltown Partners’ teams collaborate with colleagues across the transatlantic offices. The firm has ambitious plans to grow the Brussels presence, including by opening up EU-policy and public affairs work with companies in the broader Milltown client base.
As a Director, you’ll be a trusted voice for clients navigating complex EU regulatory environments, and a key part of building the Milltown Partners’ team and culture in Brussels.
At Director level, you will be expected to take full accountability for client strategy, fees and team design, a more established external network, and the capacity to drive new business independently.
This level requires a core profile: deep EU tech policy expertise, strategic clarity, and the collaborative instincts to work across a flat, transatlantic firm.
Key responsibilities – what you’ll do
Lead client work
- You’ll provide strategic advice to technology clients navigating complex EU policy and regulatory environments – drawing on deep knowledge across issues including AI, cloud, data, telecoms, online safety, competition and fintech, and sharp insight into how the EU institutions work and how decisions get made.
- You’ll translate technical and policy concepts into advice that resonates with policymakers, regulators and senior executives.
- You’ll use your stakeholder relationships to elevate the quality of the team’s work.
- You’ll build trust with clients that allows you to give the most direct and impactful advice possible.
Run brilliant teams
- You’ll set clear priorities, hold yourself and your teams to account, and coach individuals to develop and perform at their best.
- You’ll draw on the full expertise of the firm – across Brussels, London and the US offices – and take responsibility for both strategic direction and tactical execution on client teams, coordinating work that will bring together colleagues from different offices.
Drive Innovation & Growth
- You’ll build and cultivate an external network across the EU institutions, think tanks, industry and beyond – and lead on converting those relationships into opportunities for the firm.
- You’ll ensure research and insight underpin the team’s work, and seek expertise from outside the firm to sharpen the analysis, and be a visible advocate for AI-enhanced advisory work with clients and colleagues.

Your profile
Must have skills and experience
- At least 12 years of experience working on EU technology policy, drawn from consultancy, the EU institutions, or a technology company
- Deep knowledge of the EU tech policy landscape, including areas such as AI, data, cloud, telecoms, platforms, competition, fintech, videogames and how these interact with global regulatory developments
- Established relationships with senior stakeholders across the EU institutions, regulators and relevant trade bodies
- Experience advising senior clients or stakeholders – delivering strategic counsel on complex, time-sensitive issues
- Proven ability to communicate technical and policy concepts clearly to non-specialist audiences, including senior executives and policymakers
- Experience managing and developing high-performing teams
- Strong grasp of AI tools and their application in advisory work
- Intellectual curiosity to develop expertise in new areas and share it with colleagues
- Collaborative instincts and a genuine commitment to contributing to an inclusive culture
- Excellent command of written and verbal English
Desirable
- Experience working in the European institutions
- Experience in relevant fields including media and communications
- Experience leading new business conversations, including RFP processes
