The EU Public Affairs team is now developing and expanding further to consist of three passionate professionals, including this new role.

Job Description

As EU Public Affairs Manager, you will dive into EU and International policy developments relevant to the forest industry’s products, influencing outcomes to generate benefits and minimize risks for its members. As part of the Brussels team, you will:

  • Lead and participate in Public Affairs project teams consisting of policy experts, proactively shaping EU debate and policy development ;
  • Develop Public Affairs strategies and engage in proactive EU advocacy. Plan and manage tailored events and communications activities targeting decision-makers in Brussels and in the Member States ;
  • Manage and nurture relations with multiple EU interfaces, including institutions, trade organizations, media and NGOs ;
  • Represent the Swedish forest industry’s positions, raising awareness of the endless possibilities provided by the forest industry products within the EU policy-making system ;
  • Contribute to professional policy monitoring, keeping companies ahead of the curve ;
  • Build further strong Brussels networks, constantly identifying potential synergies and collaborations ;
  • Learn from world-leading companies and a-list colleagues in Brussels and in Stockholm, including management, policy experts and communication specialists ;
  • Report to the Director for EU Affairs who leads the Forest industries’ EU Public Affairs work and the Brussels team.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • University degree in a relevant field ;
  • Relevant professional experience with at least 5 years working in Brussels in European affairs (e.g. EU institutions, trade associations, consultancies…);
  • An excellent understanding of the functioning of the EU Institutions and legislative process is expected with a knowledge of relevant EU internal market policies and regulations in the fields of industry and competitiveness, environment, and/or product policy.
  • Knowledge of the forest-based value chains is considered as a plus ;
  • Proven hands-on project, organizational, and teamwork skills ;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build effective relationships with the Federation’s members and stakeholders;
  • High-level verbal and written communication skills ;
  • Full work proficiency in Swedish and English.
