The Responsibilities:  

  • Leading on and/or contributing to the drafting and delivery of communications strategies, as well as delivering comprehensive communications campaigns. 
  • Operating sometimes fully autonomously, sometimes with support from colleagues and/or external agencies. 
  • Organising industry-specific, in-person as well as virtual events, from the identification of venues and speakers to the surrounding marketing and publicity thereof.  
  • Overseeing and managing the work of external agencies/consultants. 
  • Engaging with the media/press as part of the strategy delivery/campaigns, but also on an ad-hoc basis where necessary. 
  • Occasional travel (several times a year) to meet members, stakeholders and attending events. 

The Requirements: 

  • A relevant educational background (be it in communications, journalism or  any other relevant degree to be considered). 
  • Proven professional communications experience within an association OR a communications agency, ideally within the food industry sector/nutrition science field. 
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills and proven experience with managing events, both online and in person, including preparation and organisation of the event, liaison with organisers and speakers, promotion of the event and event reporting.  
  • Experience in managing external agencies and service providers 
  • A solid knowledge of digital communications, with an ability to manage multi-lingual websites (CMS) and social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube). Familiarity with Adobe design programmes and e-mailing campaign development.  
  • Experience in media/PR outreach and stakeholder engagement, including managing media enquiries. Issues management would be an asset.  
  • Native or near-native fluency in English and have a good command of at least one other European language. In particular, a knowledge of French would be an asset.  
  • Familiarity with working independently, but also being part of a dynamic multicultural team and working in an international environment.
