The European Fund and Asset Management Association (EFAMA), based in Brussels, represents the interests of the European investment management industry. Our membership comprises 28 national associations, over 50 corporate members, and 25 associate members.

We are currently seeking a Regulatory Policy Adviser who has relevant experience in the field of asset management, particularly in the regulation of asset management companies and/or products, to strengthen our regulatory team.

We strongly encourage candidates with prior experience at a national supervisory authority or central bank, as well as those with a background in, inter alia, private sector government/regulatory affairs, legal and compliance (incl. law firms), sales/distribution, or product design, to apply.

Key Responsibilities

You will be a member of the Association’s Regulatory Policy Team, which is responsible for the following:

  • Monitoring developments in the EU and international regulatory landscape that may significantly impact the European investment management industry, and alerting members as soon as possible
  • Analysing the possible effects of these developments, facilitating exchanges of views, and developing common positions among our members for advocacy purposes
  • Engaging in a constructive dialogue with policymakers and regulators to represent our members’ views and promote sensible regulations for the industry while maintaining its global competitiveness
  • Evaluating the outcomes of EFAMA’s initiatives, reporting the results to our members in a timely manner, and drawing lessons for future actions
  • Representing the European asset management industry at conferences, in the financial press, and speaking at events

Your role will involve monitoring EU initiatives within your area of competence, with a particular emphasis on key EU regulations applicable to the asset management product sphere, particularly AIFMD, UCITS, and ELTIF. Familiarity with the EU Benchmark Regulation framework, as well as the Securitisation Regulation, is a significant advantage.

You will collaborate closely with EFAMA members and industry representatives to identify priorities, develop robust industry positions, and craft compelling narratives to inform and influence regulatory policy debates.

You will build and maintain a network of trusted relationships with EU authorities and other public and private organisations. You will engage with EU policymakers and regulators at various levels to represent the interests of the European asset management industry and contribute to inform the legislative debate.

Participation in various events to actively promote EFAMA’s viewpoints is also a requisite.

Requirements

  • University degree in Law, European studies, Economics, Finance, Business, or a related field, with a minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience in the asset management field
  • Demonstrated professional experience in the field of asset management companies and/or products, including aspects related to product design, (cross-border) distribution, use of benchmarks, etc.
  • Ability to quickly absorb and synthesize complex information
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Highly proactive, self-motivated, result-oriented, creative, and enthusiastic
  • Strong team spirit and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as strong  presentation skills
  • Native or near-level English speaker
  • An understanding of the EU’s policy-making process and/or of the investment management industry is a distinct advantage
