Role
The Director for Industrial Policy leads nucleareurope’s work on European policies affecting the nuclear sector and its value chain. Working closely with the Director General, they play a key role within nucleareurope’s Executive Team.
Responsibilities
- Lead nucleareurope’s industrial policy team
- Lead nucleareurope’s policy content (monitoring, policy briefings, position papers, consultation responses, advocacy materials) on selected files with technology/ industrial/economic content. These include policy files such as the EU Industrial Accelerator Act, SMR developments, IPCEI-nuclear as well as key EU legislation impacting the nuclear sector (EU Market design rules, environmental legislation – F-Gas, PFAS, EU long-term energy targets…)
- Lead nucleareurope’s input into the European Industrial Alliance on SMRs and work on a day to day basis with the Alliance’s secretariat, playing a major role into the alliance’s work.
- Develop and lead nucleareurope’s studies and intelligence activities on selected topics (e.g. economic impact of nuclear; benefits of nuclear to the EU energy system; market design; studies on supply chain)
- As part of daily job and in cooperation with colleagues, liaise with external stakeholders and representatives from key EU institutions, develop their network, and represent the association externally on topics of relevance
- Lead nucleareurope’s working groups related to industrial matters (e.g. Technology & Markets Advisory Committee, SMR taskforce)
- Act as authority/reference person on economics and industrial matters within nucleareurope – both internally and externally.
Reporting line:
- Director General
- The Director, Industrial Policy also oversees nucleareurope’s technical policy work through the management of the team’s Nuclear Technology Advisor (1FTE).
Skills
- At least 10 years of experience in EU policy, industrial policy, energy policy, nuclear energy or related fields.
- Strong understanding of EU policymaking and regulatory processes, with proven track record of engaging with EU stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills; stakeholder engagement and negotiations skills. Excellent drafting and communication abilities.
- Ability to manage complex policy topics and coordinate diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to speak in public and represent the sector at external meetings and events.
- Leadership and team collaboration. A positive attitude and collaborative mindset are important for success in this role.
- Advanced degree in economics, political science, public policy, engineering, or a related field.
- Excellent command of English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of other EU languages would be considered an asset.
