About the Role 

The Advisor will join the Product Policy & Sustainability team to support EuroCommerce’s advocacy and contributions on Non-Food dossiers, including topics such as product safety, eco-design, labelling, sustainable chemicals, and others. They will be an important external representative for EuroCommerce on those policy issues advancing the interests of the members and reporting to the director product policy and sustainability. 

 

Their tasks will thus include the following activities:  

  • Monitoring and analysing legislative and policy developments in the product policy domain, primarily linked to consumer goods.  
  • Engaging with key European Union institutions, including the European Commission, Parliament, and other EU bodies, as well as with stakeholder organisations across the sector and representing the organisation externally on Non-Food and Sustainability policy dossiers. 
  • Contributing to and implementing advocacy and communications plans and positions on key issues, contributing pro-actively to the sector’s approach and promoting good practice on Non-Food sustainability dossiers. 
  • In consultation with members formulating positions and key messages on legislative developments and policies and communicating these through coordinated outreach.  
  • Being a point of contact for the team and the EuroCommerce membership. 
  • Engaging with members and managing the relevant committees and working groups, in particular the Non-Food Committee, organising meetings and events as relevant. 
  • Building consensus among members and formulating policy positions with members on priority issues. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • A minimum of  2 years of hands-on work experience in a similar, relevant role in EU Public Affairs, preferably in a retail or wholesale company, trade  association, public affairs/communications consultancy or other types of organisations working on related topics. 
  • Proven track record of engaging in the EU decision-making processes and with EU institutions. 
  • University degree in Law, Political Sciences, Economics or a natural science with any other relevant degree to be considered. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in written and spoken English with other languages to be considered an asset.  
  • Ability to interact and engage with various stakeholders in an international context. 
  • Pro-active, independent, adaptable, and a resourceful team player with demonstrable organisational, inter-personal and negotiation skills.  
  • Well-organised, autonomous, dynamic, innovative, curious, and capable to deliver on time, and adapt swiftly to changing priorities.
