The Regulatory and Public Affairs Manager will report to the Head of Regulatory & Public Affairs and work in the headquarters with a possibility to work remotely up to 3 days per week.  

Storm is accelerating the transition to a climate-neutral society. They are doing this by developing, building and operating onshore wind farms at the lowest possible social cost. They have over fifty wind turbines, either already in operation or being built, enough to meet the annual electricity consumption of around 140.000 families. 

The company, based in Belgium, was founded in 2008 and has a solid shareholder base.  

Recently, Storm has been expanding its activities towards other forms of renewable energy, such as large-scale battery storage projects and a EV fast-charging network and is therefore rapidly expanding its workforce. 

About the job 

Storm wants to hire a Regulatory and Public Affairs Manager to support the development of renewable energy production in Belgium, with a focus on Wallonia. 

As a Regulatory & Public Affairs Manager at Storm, you will assist the company and especially its Walloon business on opportunities arising from regulatory framework developments in Wallonia by extensive networking with regional and local stakeholders. 

Your activities will include: 

  • You contribute to the development and implementation of the public affairs strategy. You translate this strategy into concrete actions. 
  • You are responsible for monitoring political developments in Wallonia and detecting policy changes. 
  • Together with your colleagues, you represent the interests of Storm by participating in external consultation groups and industry organizations (e.g. FEBEG, Edora, etc.). 
  • For certain tasks, you will provide back-up to the Head of Regulatory & Public Affairs. 
  • You contribute to the development of Storm’s regulatory policy. 
  • You actively follow the evolution of the laws and regulations relevant to Storm’s activities, and more particularly in the Walloon Region. 
  • You are responsible for developing internal communication and information on regulatory changes. 
  • You develop your network by focusing on Wallonia, but you will also work at federal level. 
  • In this role, you will report to the Head of Regulatory & Public Affairs. 

Job requirements 

  • You have  at least 10 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in the field of regulation and public affairs. 
  • Experience in politics and/or in the (semi-)public sector is definitely an asset. 
  • You have an excellent knowledge of French combined with a good knowledge of Dutch and English. 
  • You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree and are able to use this knowledge in practice. 
  • Your listening and observation skills as well as your analytical mind translate into a strong combination of strategic and communicative skills. 
  • Ideally, you have a good knowledge of legal terminology. 
  • Your ability to distill complex information into a clear framework makes all the difference. 
  • You know how to solve problems and you are able to build and maintain relationships. 
  • MS Office holds no secrets for you.
