About the Role  

Samsung is looking for a Senior Social Sustainability Manager to join their expanding EU affairs team. 

Reporting directly to the ESG Director, the new team member shall collaborate with the Director and other team members to:  

  • Proactively identify social risk and opportunities in European legislative developments in supply chain, sustainability reporting and ESG; 
  • Support the company to progress ESG management in Europe regarding the company’s sustainability management, and propose improvement action particularly in the areas of supply chain sustainability, responsible minerals; 
  • Monitor and report on human rights policy developments (UNO, WTO, ILO) with implications on the EU market; 
  • Identify and report on sustainability trends and contribute to establishing a sustainable management strategy for the company. Proactively identify company social risks (external and internal) in ESG and sustainability management; 
  • Engage with a wide range of external stakeholders (government, policy institutions, CSR evaluation institutions, NGO, investment institutions, customers, etc.); represent the company in industry sustainability initiatives and programmes and at relevant external events;  
  • Support the drafting and publishing of the company’s global sustainability report for external/internal communication about Samsung’s sustainability efforts and contribute to enhancing the company’s reputation; 
  • Contribute to the company’s business by responding to CSR assessment organizations, benchmarking organizations, and to customer requests. 


About the Experience and skills 

Samsung is looking for an experienced EU public affairs professional with the following background and experience: 

  • Masters’ degree in law, political science, international relations, economics preferably with a focus on Sustainability and Environmental policies, with any other relevant academic qualification to be considered; 
  • Minimum 10 years professional experience working with a company, consultancy or similar EU work environment; 
  • Experience in or strong affinity with the International and EU social responsibility agenda with a particular focus on Eco-conception, Corporate Due Diligence, and Environmental policy compliance; 
  • Ability to anticipate, grasp and quickly assess ESG policy developments through a compliance and risk assessment business ramification lens for the company; 
  • Experience in building and maintaining strong relationships and achieving consensus; 
  • Cross-cultural work experience. 

In terms of skills, the preferred candidate is going to bring along the following: 

  • Excellent presentation and written communication skills tailored for different audiences and levels of seniority; 
  • Full professional proficiency in English (ideally native level). Strong command of other EU languages is an asset; 
  • A positive can-do attitude and ability to adapt to fast-changing environment; 
  • Strong organisational, planning skills and pragmatic problem-solving approach; 
  • Outgoing and driven team player.
