The German Insurance Association (GDV) has been represented in Brussels with its Liaison Office for more than 25 years now. The Brussels team supports and coordinates the work of the Association and secures a due representation of the interests of German insurers on the European level. It currently counts seven members and shall be further expanded.

 

About the Role:

  • Policy advisor in the Brussels Liaison Office in the field of insurance regulation and financial reporting, risk management (Solvency II), Insurance Recovery and Resolution Directive and other related files/topics such as regulation around the European Supervisory Authority (ESA) and in particular EIOPA
  • International dimension of work, e.g. on the development of international capital standards (ICS), ComFrame, and work on IAIS, financial reporting on
  • Building up expertise in defined focus areas
  • Follow-up on all relevant files on European level; acquisition and preliminary analysis of information; guidance to Berlin colleagues
  • Proposals for effective lobby and communication strategies, including dedicated events
  • Assistance in drafting of position papers and other lobby material addressed to European and national institutions in German and English
  • Representation of the GDV in relevant bodies on European level (in particular, Insurance Europe) as well as representation of the German insurance industry vis-à-vis the European institutions and the general public

 

About your Experience:

  • University degree in Economics, Law, or any other relevant degree
  • Proven, initial professional experience in the European context, ideally at one of the European institutions and/or in representation of interests on European level
  • Proven expertise at least in one of the following areas: prudential insurance regulation; financial and non-financial reporting;
  • Excellent knowledge of English with a knowledge of German being a differentiating asset and any other language being a further asset to the candidate
  • Experienced user of common text processing and communication tools (MS Office, Internet/Intranet, web-based communication)
