Given the nature of its activities, Sodexo is at the heart of many different societal issues in the different countries where it operates, with a strong focus on CSR matters, both environmental and social: sustainable food system, food insecurity, quality jobs, impact of remote work, etc.  Stakeholders are various; the regulatory environment may change rapidly and its impact on the Group’s business, for a low margin and intensive labour company, can be huge. Actions, both internal and external are therefore crucial to secure a favourable legal framework that contributes to Sodexo’s growth in a sustainable way.

 

About the role

Alongside the Senior Vice-President for Public Affairs, the Group Public Affairs Manager develops and implements the European Affairs Strategy and supports the Global Sodexo’s public affairs’ network, mainly on compliance (ie. transparency legislation…), and CSR strategic issues (ie. sustainable food system, food insecurity, quality jobs,…).

  • The Group Public Affairs Manager is part of a team of three people adressing global PA issues, French PA issues being managed by another colleagues’ team.
  • She/he will work closely with the Public Affairs Leadership Committee and the CSR governance, thanks to a strong intern sponsorship and continuous pedagogy.
  • It is a full-time job starting in october or november 2022, based in Issy-les-moulineaux (close to Paris, with 2 home-office days per week).

About the responsibilities

Alongside the Group SVP Public Affairs and under her supervision, you will :

  • Develop and implement the European Affairs strategy thanks to:
    • Monitoring and analysing the consequences of the political and societal agenda, at EU and international level on the industry and the company’s activities;
    • Alerts different internal audiences about the potential impact on the business of forthcoming legislations;
    • Write position papers based on strong research, data and proof points to engage stakeholders and policymakers on the company’s and industry’s positions.
  • Engage in relevant industry groups and support the Sodexo public affairs network engaged in trade ;associations, chamber of Commerce, think tanks, etc;
  • Develop new tools to raise awareness among internal audiences to Public Affairs issues;
  • Keep strengthening the transparency culture of PA within the organisation, as part of the Responsible Business Conduct:
    • reporting to global rating agencies (like DJSI);
    • benchmark ethics and transparency legislation on lobbying on an international basis;
    • reporting the lobbying activities to registration agencies at national and EU levels.
  • Help the Group SVP PA in implementing activities for the CEO as leader of a French company, as well as for COMEX members;
  • Help enrich the Group Public Affairs strategy as well as the new activities to be developed to support these new orientations.

Profil requirements

  • 4 years of experience in Public Affairs;
  • Relevant master’s degree in Public Affairs / Public policies / European Affairs;
  • Good knowledge on CSR issues – at least sensitivity to this topic;
  • Knowledge on Food issues and/or Energy Facilty Management is a plus;
  • In-depth knowledge of French and European political landscape, and decision-making process;
  • Ease in reading (or even writing) of legal content: EU Regulations and French laws, parliamentary amendments, regulatory and administrative acts, administrative reports, etc;
  • Highly effective oral and written English-language communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal communication skills;
  • Proven ability to collaborate in a decentralised, matrix organisation;
  • Team player, with strong capability for developing personal networks an ability to work in multicultural and diverse working environment;
  • Dynamic, taking initiatives;
  • Open, flexible and pragmatic;
  • Fluent in English – Spanish would be an asset.
