Role 

Reporting to the European Union Business Unit Director, the EU public affairs manager – EU budget and public funding: 

  • Leads policy and regulatory advocacy for InnoEnergy regarding the EU budget and public funding instruments with the objective to ensure adequate EU and national budget allocations, programmes and products for the energy transition, notably climate technology manufacturing. 
  • Supports the delivery of access to EU and national public finance for EIT InnoEnergy portfolio companies (added-value services) with the objective to accelerate and de-risk EIT InnoEnergy companies. 

Objectives 

EU Budget and public funding instruments 

  • Ensures timely and accurate internal information regarding EU budget and instruments so as to inform strategic decisions, notably as regards evolutions in the current EU Budget and programs as well as in the preparation of the next EU Multiannual Financial Framework. 
  • Proposes EIT InnoEnergy recommendations regarding the EU budget and EU funding instruments (budget allocations, design of and access to programs and instruments). 
  • Promotes EIT InnoEnergy views with all relevant EU institutions and stakeholders. 
  • Identifies cooperation and partnership opportunities with EU institutions. 

Access to national public finance 

  • Builds and maintains knowledge of national public finance schemes in EIT InnoEnergy countries of operation (EU shared management, national schemes). 
  • Supports local EIT InnoEnergy team with understanding and accessing the most relevant national public finance schemes. 

Access to EU public finance  

  • Supports hands-on the Senior Manager – EU public investment, as appropriate, in the delivery of the added value service “access to EU public finance” (EIB, EIC, Innovation Fund, EBRD and other relevant EU instruments). 
  • Supports hands-on the Senior Manager – EU public investment, as appropriate, in the management and expansion of the European Battery Alliance ‘’EU finance One-stop-shop”.

Profile

  • Relevant professional experience in a policy role related to the EU and National budget and funding programmes is a must. 
  • Sound understanding and knowledge of the EU multiannual financial framework and of public funding instruments. An experience with relevant EU and national instruments dedicated to the climate and energy transition, innovation is a plus. 
  • Experience in or demonstrated network with relevant European Commission Directorate Generals (BUDG, ECFIN) and national  public finance and investment actors. 
  • Financial and investment literacy.
